Hirtshals to Kristiansand & Hike to Preikestolen

April 12 & 13, 2025 - The ferry from Hirtshals to Kristiansand is the classic gateway to Norway. In just over two hours, you sail from Denmark’s flat north to Norway’s rocky southern coast, ready for fjords and mountains.

One of the first big adventures is the hike to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock). This iconic cliff towers 604 metres above Lysefjord, offering breathtaking views. The hike is around 4 km each way and takes 4-5 hours return.

On windy days, the exposed cliff feels even more dramatic. Gusts can be strong at the top, so keep your distance from the edge and hold onto your hat – or let the wind style your hair into true Norwegian wilderness mode.
