Fruit for hours & wild wild west
We left Kings Canyon and Sequoia and headed south towards Los Angeles and Menifee. The drive took us through endless stretches of fruit trees, mile after mile, as far as we could see.
We stopped for breakfast at Apple Annie’s, a lovely classic diner with a real American feel. The breakfast was just perfect – egg Benedict, breakfast burrito, and a big apple dumpling with ice ream, and loads of coffee.
After breakfast, we continued driving. Slowly, the fruit orchards turned into oil fields. Everywhere we looked, there were oil pumps moving up and down, working quietly under the sun.
In the middle of all this, we found the Old Corral Saloon. It felt like stepping back into the wild west. We stayed for hours, enjoying food, drinks, and the atmosphere. It was a Sunday afternoon, crowded with people of all ages having a good time together. After a few beers, Anna Maria took over the driving for the last stretch.
We arrived in Menifee and met Malene, Cesar, Cesar’s family, and of course Natali. It was a long day with beautiful landscapes, good food, and great company at the end.
